
The list of questions below were collaboratively constructed through virtual and face-to-face conversations with people in my Professional Learning Network. They could be useful for schools considering implementing an elearning system/initiative.
Vision for Learning
- What is your purpose and vision for implementing elearning?
- What values and beliefs about learners and learning will drive its use?
- What advantages are there for using an elearning system as opposed to current practices?
- How can new pedagogical practices emerge through this?
- Will this be learner-centred, Teacher controlled or both?
Supporting Teachers
- Have you got strong champions for the initiative within the school? Are your teachers and students willing/wanting to change?
- Are there mentors within or beyond the school that can guide and support teachers?
- Do teachers understand the pedagogical purpose and value of students engaging in elearning experiences?
- What opportunities and ideas do you have for supporting teacher Professional Learning?
- How will you allow for diversity of teachers as learners? To allow for innovation and extra support for those that are yet to engage?
- Where are your teachers at? Where are your students at?
- What do they want to be able to do online? What are the expectations for use of the system by teachers?
- How will you provide support for curriculum, planning and reflective practice within the school? Classroom examples to support technical
Functionality and User groups
What do you expect the following user groups to be able to do?
- students
- staff
- parents
Have you considered the following types of elearning options?
- digital content repositories
- course management
- learning (social) networks
- collaborative tools
- ePortfolios
- Synchronous communication tools
What is most important for your school community right now? Where should you start? What goals do you have for sustained use into the future?
Student Learning
How will the initiative provide opportunities for student learning through:
- Inquiring with ICTs?
- Creating with ICTs?
- Communicating with ICTs?
- Ethics, Issues and ICTs?
- Operating ICTs?
Management and Leadership
- Who will lead the project? How? Is this sustainable?
- How does this align with other initiatives in your school?
- How does this fit within your whole school ICLT planning?
- How is/will this be supported by leaders and administrators?
- Will you require policies and practices for usage? To enable responsible users rather than restricting learning options.
Resourcing and Infrastructure
- What does the school provide and control? What external sites and tools are available to compliment this?
- What infrastructure have you allowed for this – servers, setup, technical support, bandwidth?
- Who will manage the roles and accounts for the

Great post Amanda! I love your questions! I was laying in bed last night just getting so excited about learning and how amazing it is!! I am blaming my lack of sleep due to this on our twitter conversation!! I hope your teachers never stop wanting to learn and appreciate what a miracle it is!

ReplyDeleteThere are so many fantastic opportunities for us all as learners (and everyone is) it's an amazing time for learning. If only we didn't have to sleep we could stay connected and keep learning at every moment.
